Industrial Steel Structures

GRAFT's team designed a steel structure to support 36" diameter water lines and numerous cable trays as they rise above the ground, cross the adjacent road, and head into the second floor of the facility. The piping was analyzed for wind and seismic loads in addition to operating conditions.
Utility Designs & Seismic Analysis

GRAFT's founder spent six years working on the expansion at the Portland International Airport. He designed supports for water lines and fire suppression systems to accommodate large building movements. Many systems required pipe stress analyses to strategically locate seismic braces in locations that would not compromise the building's integrity.
Wood Construction & Repairs

Our team designed repairs for joists that were completely destroyed during installation of plumbing pipes at St. Helens Residence Hall on Portland State University's campus. Space restraints required close coordination with the contractor to ensure everything could be installed.
Modular Racks & Construction Aids

Our staff designed modular trusses using strut to support as many as sixty 2" diameter utilities. All of the strut and fittings were off-the-shelf items to eliminate issues with long lead times. The design allowed contractors to build the entire assembly on the ground reducing the need for elevated work.
